Ballarat Gymsports

MAG COMPETITIVE

Mind blowing skills, strength and breath-taking moves are what makes up a great routine in this sport. Regardless if you have just started Primary School or ready for the Masters, Ballarat Gymsports has a program that can be tailored to suit you.

As your core strength develops and you become accustomed to the six apparatus of Men’s Gymnastics (Floor, Pommel Horse, Rings, Vault, Parallel Bars and Horizontal Bar) you can start to choose whether competition is what you are striving for or pure fitness. Either way this sport is impressive and is not for the faint hearted, close your eyes and feel yourself flying.

The Australian Levels Program (ALP), is a logical 10 level progression for all male participants that is used across every state. Ballarat Gymsports through it’s evolution has been one of the most successful western Victorian clubs over the years having had gymnasts compete in State Championships up to level 7 and being a past winner of the State Secondary Inter School Gymnastics Championships. Currently our gymnasts train from Level 1 to 7.

Ballarat Gymsports has the largest MAG program including the latest MAG equipment in Ballarat consisting of a 15m x 15m carbon fibre Sprung Floor, 10 Single Bars, 2 sets of Rings, 2 sets of Parallel Bars, 3 Trampolines, multiple Pommel pieces, 3 foam pits, air pit, 3 Vaults, Rod Tumble and 2 Air floors, plus multiple pieces of other training equipment.

Since 2019 we have continually had gymnasts in the Victorian High Performance Program Development Squads. We have also been very successful at Victorian Junior Championships over the years  with many medals and having the State Level 3 Champion.

In 2020, the program grew even stronger still, having three boys selected in to the Victorian High Performance Program Development squads. One in the Gold squad and two in the Green squad, no other club in the South West region was so strongly represented.

Since 2022 (there was no squad due to COVID in 2021), we have been fortunate to have our boys selected in to the Under 14 High Performance Program development squad each year. This clearly demonstrates the continual strong ability of local talent being identified and locally trained reaching great heights.

2025 sees a change in direction in our MAG program as Coach Al Cueva from the Philippines takes on more of our sports programs, and hands over the main operations of the program to new staff dedicated to MAG. All of our program coaches have attended workshops both overseas and in Australia conducted by World, Olympic and International Coaches and Gymnasts. This activity provides Gymsports with the latest knowledge and best practices which will certainly see our boys program raised to even greater heights.
